Now, about my water problem 
I have tried to resolve it by taking account that I live in the anti-antipodes by reversing the hot and cold connections and turning the trap upside down. Although the water now goes through the plughole in completely the opposite direction than before, the problem has changed as well. When I turn the cold tap on, it's hot and when I turn the hot tap on it's cold. But here's the really really strange thing - when I turn them both on the water is now luke cold

USA has only 10% of world oil left; Islamic countries have most of it so it suits the US well if they can present those Islamic countries in a poor light.

OK, you live in london, the capital of a democratic country, so i assume you enjoy the freedom of speech and expression which that permits. and i expect you enjoy the benefits of living in a capitalist economy. these priveleges exist courtesy of the hundreds of thousands who died in 2 world wars to safeguard democracy for future generations. if you are passionate about your beliefs you are at liberty to go where you choose and die for them. if you aren't willing to do that you are just another armchair philosopher

It's all running ok now. I've discovered that if I turn off the combi and also the stopcock (which moves so much easier now I've applied "I can't beleive it's not butter"), that I no longer get any warm water. Hoorah.
