Zion and the Art of Armageddon

There were no immediate details about what the agreement entailed. However, later on Monday, Hamas official Taher Al-Nono told Reuters the proposal reportedly included, in addition to a ceasefire, the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, the return of the displaced, and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

That is more or less what AlJ said adding 120days total, phased. Phrasing that Israel have accepted before on the extended time - according to BBC via sources.

It seems Israel has rejected the deal. It doesn't meet their requirements. Just an AlJ report so far.

The incredible deal as turned out to not be credible. One of the problems is we don't know what it was.
Anyway east Rafar was heavily bombed last night but so far no real details on damage levels. Probably wont be if now a military area. That can mean anyone in them is likely to be shot other than IDF.

BBC went through isreali evacuation instructions, There is also a BBC web page.

The IDF has occupied the crossing into Egypt, which is near where roughly a million Gazan refugees are sheltering under tents.

Aid through the crossing has been stopped.

It seems Israel has accused AlJ of being involved in the original attack. Sort of logical if theis as the same effect as it had on UNRWA.

Israel treat news as another part of the war. Independent journalists are a threat, which is why they are blocked from the area, twrget d when in the area and stripped of protection when critical of Israel.

Nothing unusual That’s war

You can’t have journalists just wandering around doing as they please / going we’re they please

Some thing the Americans discovered in the Vietnam war

Most of the reports that come out are by Palestinians. There is a long list of international reporters wanting to go in but have been refused entry. Various countries and ngo's etc are much the same s use Palestinians. Even Norway has a bloke there. His son aged 6 tasted yoghurt for the very 1st time rather recently. Some recent ngo aid shipment.

A brit doc left Rafar just as the attack started. Last time he was there ~Xmas he mostly treated war injuries. Lot less of these this time but lots of cases of previous surgery getting infected. They are dying. He puts this down to aid. He also drove through a safe area. Comment - so many overcrowded people there there isn't any space available at all. He also mentions buildings shaking due to the bombs even in Egypt. He got out because it was time for him to return. The Rafar crossing is also shut with Israel on the Gaza side. So no southern aid entries at all now.

;) True brit by the way with 7 other docs.

BBC report on the negotiations. Reports suggest it didn't directly mention a permanent ceasefire. More an extended period of calm which Israel had accepted.

Summary

  1. As Gaza ceasefire talks resume in Cairo, an Israeli official sets out four issues with a deal that Hamas says it agrees to
  2. On Monday, Hamas said it backed a proposal put forward by Egyptian and Qatari mediators
  3. But Israel said it rejected the terms - and an official briefed on the talks has now given more detail
  4. Israel objects to a proposal for "permanent" ceasefire, and says female soldiers would be released too late
  5. It also says releasing bodies, rather than hostages, is not acceptable, and says Israel needs a veto on which prisoners it releases
  6. The war began when Hamas fighters stormed into southern Israel on 7 October, killing about 1,200 people and seizing 252 hostages
  7. More than 34,700 people have been killed in Gaza since then, the Hamas-run health ministry says

there are 2 wars going on in Gaza and one of em is the propaganda war

Hamas have done quite well in that campaign (?)

Hamas demanded a delay on returning hostages and a permanent end to the war. Israel told them to do one.

permanent end to the war.
There is a BBC reporter that used to be on west midlands breakfast time. Reporter. He moved on to monitoring events in Israel years ago. His sources don't indicate a permanent end. He says they are usually reliable sources. The term extended period of calm after a days limited cease fire. This has been muttered about before and Israel has been ok with it in the past.

What Israel is saying is that the deal is very similar to HAMA's original offer. Now just why would Qatar and Egypt and effectively the US think there would be any point in presenting that to Israel?

There is a more subtle point what ever was in it. HAMAS didn't think Israel would accept it. Highly likely due to Benjamin needing support of his extreme right wingers. Mind you all evidence suggest he is one anyway. Loose that support and their gov dissolves.

Hamas officials have shown Al Jazeera a copy of the Egyptian-Qatari ceasefire proposal that the movement says it has agreed to. However, Israel’s response has been less enthusiastic, as it continued to emphasise its desire to attack Rafah in southern Gaza and to completely defeat Hamas.

In the first phase, there would be a temporary cessation of hostilities between Hamas and Israel as well as a withdrawal of Israeli forces to the east, away from the more heavily-populated areas of Gaza, and towards the border between Israel and the Palestinian enclave. Israeli airplanes and drones would also stop flying over Gaza for 10 hours each day, and for 12 hours on days when captives are released....

In the second phase of the deal, there would be a permanent end to military operations and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. There would also be another prisoner swap, this time involving all the remaining Israeli men, including soldiers held captive in Gaza. The Israelis would be released in return for an as-yet unspecified number of Palestinian prisoners.

Read on @ Al Jazeera

Hamas have shown their funding partners media outlet a 'copy'. Umm can't see anything wrong there.
