wall next to boundary

our semi detached has a boundary fence between us and our neighbour down a sloping garden. on our side we have shrubs approx 3m high which take up a lot of space. We want to remove them and replace with a wall inside the existing boundary fence which will remain. The wall would be 2.45m above the highest ground by the house and approx 6-7m long. My understanding is that as long as the wall is not attached to our property and is on ourside of the boundary it is pd? Does this mean as long as it is freestanding i could build wall as long as it ha a gap, can this be very small, 50mm? so we can have maximum deck?

I think you'll find that the maximum height allowed is 2 m and allow for the width of the footings so they are not in your neighbours property

I thought if it was not a boundary wall but totally on my property that could be 2.5m from highest level?

2.5 is for a shed or other within 2m off the boundery
wall or fence 2m back 1m front

sorry are you saying i can build a brick building of 2.5m within 2m of boundary but not a simple wall? if i put overhang off wall to provide some shelter on patio would that be ok?

No. A wall is a wall. A building is several walls, a roof and a floor.
