I live in a house that has had underpinning work done, so there's history of subsidence. A year ago when I bought it the surveyor did not find any evidence of recent movement, but in 1 year I have been living here I noticed hairline cracks on the newly painted walls.
Also, the garage, which has not had any underpinning done, seems to have quite wide gaps between concrete floor and the walls. For a piece of mind I though I could arrange for a focussed survey, so I contacted my insurer, but they advised I should arrange for that on my own, otherwise it can count as a subsidence claim. And so I am looking for a reliable surveyor (London area) - I would appreciate any suggestions on where and how to search. Thanks!
