What's that saying which goes something like "Once is co-incidence, twice is a [?], three times..."?

And where is it from?

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me?

Or as Bush says, Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice...err....can't fool me again

Once is chance, twice a coincidence, three times a conspiracy or three times is an enemy action. I seem to associate it with America's anti communist phobia

"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action".-Auric Goldfinger in "Goldfinger" by Ian L. Fleming (1908-1964)

:)

I stand corrected. So it was to do with a spy in the bed and not one under the bed.

I think it is from a "Period Drama".

Not thinking of "The importance of being Ernest" are we?

To lose one parent is unfortunate, to lose two is careless

I think there is a similar quote form "Pride and Prejudice" but I can't think of how it goes...

I think it has something to do with getting pregnant, if that helps.
