Hotpoint WMT03 blocked wastepipe?!

Hi, im sure this is a simple enough job but we cant work it out! my partner put a pair of very muddy etc.. chainsaw trousers into the washer.. next thing theres water all over the floor etc.. its not coming out of the pipe.. more underneath/soap dispenser bit. Im sure the waste pipe is blocked as theres only water dripping out when i try to drain it.
How do we get the drainpipe off to unblock it? and is there a filter? Please help. Thanks

The filter is in the sump hose on the bottom of the tub. Ideally you should take the machine outside to avoid a flood. Remove the small panel at the back low down and you will see the sump hose which is attached with a Jubilee clip. There is a plastic ball which acts as a one way valve and a filter.
