My dishwasher waste is connected to under my sink. And my sink overflow waste just drops into a tub. Had this 2 years, working fine, except on occasion when tub overflows by accident.

Can I slit a hole in the dishwasher waste pipe, insert the hanging pipe, and silicone the join? Or is there a Y splitter that would connect under sink to accommodate both?

As suggested - do it properly, with a proper appliance trap.

You do get Y pieces though, if there was nothing else for it.

Double bowl sink? What's on the other bowl?

You can also get a kit that would let you tap the dishwasher into the waste after the trap

Ensure something exists to stop drain smells coming into the dishwasher (your dishwasher probably has a one way valve at the dishwasher end of the drain pipe)
