Nexus 8 Alarm Panel Soak Settings

The manual says that by setting the zone attribute to 4, I can get it to a soak mode (sensor action will be logged, but will not set off alarm). When I do this the attribute setting goes back to zero every time I exit the Engineer mode to Normal. If I check it while in Engineer mode the 4 is still there.
How do I stop the attribute clearing?
