Hello. I wondered if anyone has any recommendations for insuring the house while works are being done. Im finding it hard to find a company willing and when I do its not very good cover or very expensive.
Cheers
It's certainly available, although can't remember who we used. 2 years unoccupied while work carried out. Theft was minimal cover, but covered main risks.

Thanks for replies everyone. I got an ok price in the end. Im living there so that so that helped. The problem was when I did the initial search and it gave me a choice of companies. Then at the end of checking and agreeing to everything for an hour it said it couldn't provide cover.
I would be interested in getting cover for the actual work once its started. Im not sure if your public liability covers you on your own place either.
If you are using a contractor, mostly not your problem (unless the contractor doesn't have insurance). You insure your property against fire etc. unconnected with the actions of the contractor. Contractor insures against public liability (damage to you and yours), employers liability (damage to his workforce), possibly professional indemnity (if the contractor is also providing design and professional advice).
