Hello.

We are having dowlights in out 3m single storey ceiling. This obviously has insulation in, what are the regs regarding this? Obviously I don't want to break the thermal barrier but how do I go about installing them?

Cheers

If you search for thermal downlight hoods you will see a range of product that are made for such an issue, Some are best installed from above but some can be fit from below, all depends on size.

Hello, I'd have pendant/wall lights instead.

A mate has just had a flat roof built and when he showed me pictures they have chopped big holes for downlights, they will be draughty.
Think you can get surface mount lights, but haven't used them.

I wouldn't break the thermal barrier.

Forget it, we bought a house with wretched downlights installed and on a windy day in winter the heating has to keep going to cope with the cold draughts. The house is now for sale but if we were staying I would get rid of the lot, it's just a fashion.
