If swapping a couple of.radiators for slightly different sizes so draining down. Would it be possible to use to old rad valves take the tails off put in the new rad. Etc? Or unadvisable? I think I'd just need some new 15mm olives for the copper pipe size. If I do. Thanks

If they match the original valves then yes it would be better to swap without draining down.
If they are in good condition and easy to be removed then that is another reason to reuse them.

Thanks I would be taking the radiator tails out of the old radiator putting in the new. And repiping the radiator. I need.to drain down to alter pipework slightly.

as a diyer , i have done this a few times now - replaced 3 radiators
on one the new radiator which was metric , replacing an imperial rad , i needed to get some extension connectors for the rad to the valve - but the distance out was the same and so ligned up OK
but the other 2 , also Imperial and replacing metric - BUT i wanted a double rad to get the BTU for the room and they were NOT , the same distance from the wall as the valve
and so a little planning into how i would be doing all the mounting so they would match up with the valves.
Not major difficult , but just needed thinking through

i used these

I turned OFF the valves and also blanked off , just in case
So NO draining down needed
fitted new radiator and bleed and when i replaced the next 2 I did add some more inhibitor - which was not easy - using a funnel , but should have got a special tool to add inhibitor via the bleed valve

if you are able to repipe the rad , then maybe a lot easier , I did not as that would need all the floor lifted

If they don't leak when you close them and remove the rads then no reason why not. Unless for cosmetic reasons or upgrading to trvs.
