okay, so I have to keep a towel or something like that to be kept behind my door to keep my door closed, acting like a spring. Only problem I have no idea how it works. I have seen how they are installed but surely they are meant to compress so the momentum will transfer back into my door.

I have to leave my door open enough so my cats can come freely into and out of my room, but I want the privacy so the door needs to be closed as much as possible.

Here is the item I am confused on.

The item is just a protector to stop the door hitting the wall. It won't close the door.

Search for door closers and then add something to keep the door slightly open

Or you could try and fit a catflap in the door

We have a cat flap on an internal door but that's really because we sometimes close that door to keep heat from escaping from that part of the house. You can get sprung hinges that work in addition to your existing hinges, I don't know how effective they are eg https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30552345...lp:4429486&itmmeta=01HX9VZ77CFS70781560RXCK3E Though not quite sure how they work with a conventional door frame set up.

Or maybe a gate spring eg https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BT4WL...=best_reviews_uk_1-21&linkCode=osi&psc=1&th=1

Typical… the man in the shop either lied to me or didn’t have a clue on what I was asking him…

I have these already on my door… maybe they need a bit of a clean and oil??
