    Lighting Control Board

Good working practice would be local isolation via a FCU, if on an oversized supply, or just a double-pole switch if on a dedicated radial, and a suitably sized breaker/RCBO in the fuseboard. Belt and braces would be to have the control box on a plug to an adjacent socket, thus there is no...

    Lighting Control Board

All equally useless when the road-mender stick a backhoe through your phone-line (assuming you're fortunate enough to have someone come out and fix the roads).. There's a few smart-home systems that are not internet dependant, Home Assistant being one, but even then they're not always infallable.

    Lighting Control Board

Not all smart ecosystems are created equal, as other have stated, many rely on an internet connection to work, and not everyone want Amazon or Google listening in to everyhting that goes on in a household. Having a central switching centre enables easier control, and also removal of control for...

    Lighting Control Board

This topic aligns with my own interests, so I thought I'd throw a couple of comments in.. I'm planning similar with a dedicated radial circuit (6 or 10A, not sure yet) to feed the a lighting control box in the loft, contents of which are still, but from that location I've run 20 or 25mm conduit...

yeah, this is pretty obvious too.

    AI Users?

Hi all - quick question - is there a policy on AI users or AI generated content on this platform? I've just had a reply to an old post of mine from a new user which has summarized previous posts on the thread, yet has not added anything new. I'm wondering if this is the thin end of the wedge...

2 EOL switches on a zone

I've no idea why that didn't show when I searched first time.. And they're cheaper than the SC513 :D

2 EOL switches on a zone

Can I put 2 Window/door magnetic contacts on a single zone? I've got a pair of SC513/A switches I want to mount on a window, one for each opening leaf, yet have them triggered as a single zone (this will reduce my overall count of zones significantly) My concern is that they appear to have...

Thin/flat magnetic contacts for upvc doors and windows

I have ordered a pair of CQR magnets and contacts that are 13 x13mm and will experiment with how they fit..

Thin/flat magnetic contacts for upvc doors and windows

have just measured the channel in the extrusion - it's approx 12x12mm. the frames are Rehau and I believe there's a steel core/liner so drilling would be a tricky affair..

Thin/flat magnetic contacts for upvc doors and windows

I probably should have mentioned I'd prefer wired, we're at the pre-plastering stage so it's easy to run and hide wires, and I prefer the resilience and low maintenance of wired sensors wherever possible.

Thin/flat magnetic contacts for upvc doors and windows

Is there a product that sits in the channels in the extrusion, rather than unsightly and cumbersome surface mount? I've seen the round flush contacts but they look too chunky and are probably intended for wooden frames.

Replacement windows to reduce road noise..

    actually I have no idea..

Replacement windows to reduce road noise..

Thick pane, airgap, thin pane with a laminate layer is what we ended up choosing. The panes are heavy, and how much better than regular double or triple is not something we can measure.

Replacement windows to reduce road noise..

hi, we went with the Acoustic glass in the end. it has made a marked difference in road-noise in the house, and things are much more pleasant as a result. You do need to consider other noise paths, as once you've fixed the winows, you're then aware of the air-brick or some other route for the...
