    Surface drain blocked

Nothing will make anything worse at this stage, really no need for any trepidation.

    Surface drain blocked

For sure they probably won't but just one thing to try in an array of others as has now been mentioned several times.

    Surface drain blocked

You can still give it a rod, see if that disturbs things, someone suggested adding a jetting fitting for a pressure washer, speak to the neighbours? BTW if you ring up UU they will likely tell you over the phone if their maps show anything if you can find the number for building over agreements...

    Surface drain blocked

But you don't know categorically whether it is a soakaway or not. The OP needs to investigate further ....

    adhesive shelf life ?

I expect it's a manufacturers cover-all date, they may have only tested it after 12 months so cannot claim longer in their blurb, rather than reflecting it's true shelf life. I've still only used about 5% of a tub of copper grease I must have bought in about 1990, still seems fine now.

    Opening a roller blind mechanism

    Surface drain blocked

I'm not quite sure why the previous posters are assuming it is a soakaway, house of that age would typically run into a mains in the street. It's not unheard of for a drain to fill up with crap off the roof etc especially if poorly maintained as is the case here. I would get some drain rods and...

    How does this work??

We have a cat flap on an internal door but that's really because we sometimes close that door to keep heat from escaping from that part of the house. You can get sprung hinges that work in addition to your existing hinges, I don't know how effective they are eg...

Loft conversion - upgrading fire protection to stairwell

What's your BCO say on the subject? Tests cannot be done to prove L&P upgrades work because no two L&P finishes are alike. BC don't like intumescent paints in dwellings much either as future homeowners wont bother about maintaining them.

Someone will be along soon to suggest a water level.
