Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

I think the test button, and under fault conditions the electronics staying active after it has tripped?

Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

What I can not understand is why it matters which direction the power flows, I can see it making a difference if on opening both sides stay live, but if the inverter has anti islanding software then when the grid is lost, the inverter will stop producing. So if the RCD is like this and load...

Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

Having watched more you tube videos it does seem any reference to "LOAD" indicates mono direction. However it is also a question of where we actually have true bi-directional flow which can mean there is voltage both sides of the device. Looking at the example with my own house the AC breaker...

Tesla 7" dual safety thermostats failing

Interesting what you say, I want to change mine for a longer immersion and thermostat, but I was having a problem with the reset tripping, I turned down temperature and no problems since. However I am using DC and variable load, so I have expected problems. The first step is test is it using...

    Pond Electrics!

In theroy any overload should trip a overload or blow a fuse, but that is only true if installed correctly to start with. So job one is to work out what feeds what, with what size overload, and what size cable. The other thing is how is it earthed? In the UK we have TT and TN and TN is split...

Green star heatslave 2. Not igniting.

The oil boilers seem to be a collection of parts not all made by the same manufacturer, and my heatslave is likely not the same as yours. I did work on oil space heaters in the past, and they were a pain, but the main method was if not sure, change it and see if it works, which is all well and...

DIY Temperature Controlled Cooling Solution (For SolarInverter)

Using a fused connection unit (FCU) one can fuse to 1 amp, or maybe better with grid switch like I did here. However "The PAS 63100: 2024 was published by the BSI in March 2024. Section 6.5. 5 states that batteries shall not be installed in 'voids, roof spaces, or lofts. '4 Apr 2024" but...

    Smart switch wiring help. (2Gang/2Way)

I used a relay in the lamp, the original two way switches still work, but now extra low voltage, the lamp in my case has 5 GU10 bulbs, so I split it so centre is independent to outer bulbs, so the relay is two channel, but in hind sight I wonder if it would have been better with just smart...

    Securing Electricity Meter Cupboard

I am not sure how the smart meter has changed the playing field, before the smart meter the meter reader needed access to the meter, so it had to be the standard key. Today the supply can be cut remotely, and the meter is also read remotely, so there is really no problem fitting any lock you...

Bi and Omni directional RCD's how can one tell what has been fitted.

They did design caravans where the over run brakes only worked in one direction, which did result in some runaways when unhitched on a hill. However back to start, one is doing an EICR and one sees a MCB, RCD, RCBO, Isolator which has load marked on one side, if the load is marked on a side...

DIY Temperature Controlled Cooling Solution (For SolarInverter)

I would use a simple desk fan connected to some thing like this the InkBird 308 I have these got before the Inkbird came out, there are others but keep it simple. Not sure why is should be getting that hot now? I made up mine to brew beer, but have used them for all sorts, using a small...

Time for tariff rate change, is it always UTC?

Oh dear at long last found how to read the smart meter, so at about 11:08 it showed so it seems only the app is UTC not the meter or the IHD both of them show BST.

    Starter for a fly zapper

I had it years ago, the universal starter would not work, down I think to two tubes on same starter, we had a contract with RS and they sourced the replacement, but the one you have says 110 volt?

Portable Aircon Unit how best to plug in..

I plug my AC into the chimney with an adaptor I have made, so it does not require a window to be left open, and for the electric vie a smart socket so I can turn it on before returning home so room is cool when I get home, at the moment use bottles for the condensate, a hole in the wall is still...

Portable Aircon Unit how best to plug in..

For an item one may travel with I can see using an adaptor has an advantage, but your not going to take an AC on holiday, so just ask Amazon what are they going to do, they must supply it with a UK plug.
