    Kitchen base units/worktop question.

Surely you'd fit the units perpendicular and split the deviation?

    Garage Wall Replacement

Plus one for the "rake" approach. Presumably you can get on the roof and break it up from above with a long pole, something like a scaffold tube with a flattened end. It could be adapted for dragging the spoil back with a partner pulling a rope attached to the bottom end. I'm afraid to mention...

Belfast sink doesn’t fit - any advice?

I wouldn't actually hang a towel from it, it's just a trick to distract the brain. Those sinks are supposed to finish flush with the adjacent doors and everyone can clearly see there's something's wrong because it's set back. Something to make it look like it's supposed to do that is what's needed.

Purlin (9x3inch) with 6m clear span

It's true, it's quite amazing the difference just tying adjacent ceiling joists together makes.

    Issue with builders progress

I smell a few rats! In this situation I think the most important thing is to make sure you always owe them money, not the other way round - although even this may be difficult if they are completing stages of the project but the work is substandard. These situations rarely end well so aim to...

Belfast sink doesn’t fit - any advice?

That does look odd. Maybe some kind of decorative towel rail across the front to match your handles would disguise it.

    Citroen C2 hose replacement

I would say so, it's a "heater" hose. Better off with eBay than those foreign places, a proper company - if you do have to return the process will be easy and will just cost a few quid for a parcel.

Purlin (9x3inch) with 6m clear span

The problem with reinstating the hangars (they are literally bits of timber, sometimes old floorboards, hanging the ceiling joists off the purlin) is that they will increase the load on the purlin - which is your concern. If the SE says it needs reinforcing ask him to spec something (probably a...

How to underpin front of concrete slab, that's poorly built on a slope and now overhanging it's hardcore sub-base?

If you're not up to building a wall, get some used concrete paving slabs off Freecycle, excavate all the loose material from under the slab and set them vertically about 50mm away. You'll need.to make a reasonable attempt to place them on solid ground (dig down a bit), set them on some semi-dry...

Nave you considered LVT? Plenty of tile effect.

DIY re-roof on semi galley kitchen

Your neighbour has sorted the most risky bit (the joint between the roofs) with a bonding gutter. As a diyer, I found the hardest part was the first row - setting the bottom batten, fascia height etc but it's not impossible. The tiles (ask you neighbour) are Marley moderns or generic clones -...

Would someone describe, please, how to...

I think I'd still do this. See if the window can be reworked. If not pay the money for a new frame.

My focus would be on the external appearance. Anything else is just basic making good.

    Joists, notches and heavy weight

The notches look outside the zone where they are allowed - have a quick Google and check yourself -we don't know the span. I don't think the potential defect will be "fatal' but certainly needs attention.
