They’re to divert water which has got in between the inner and outer skin of a cavity wall, back out of the outer skin. Normally fitted above lintels/openings.

I also found a quick dry score with the grinder before a wet cut did the trick, so a few options. Ive also got one of those titan dust extractors but suspect masonry dust may knacker it I’ll deffo avoid the block splitter though, thanks

Cheers. Something like a square foot of osb with a couple of parallel 2x2s fixed to it to keep the block in place? Take it you don’t rate the guillotines then? I won’t bother hiring one

Thanks. I’ve actually already got a cutoff saw but the dust is horrific so will need to arrange a water fed version.

For my block paving job which I’m kinda doing in different stages as I get the time, with 50mm tumbled style pavers, I was originally planning on hiring one of those block splitter guilotine things, at the same time as hiring the whacker. I’m now thinking of treating myself to a cutoff disc...

At the risk of asking a silly question, are you worried about getting electrocuted? I’m tempted to do the same or even modify mine to take a water feed. But no idea how these things work in terms of insulation between blade area and 240v !

Cheers. I’ve just realised mines only a 230mm and the water fed ones are 300mm so a totally different beast. retro fitting a water kit to a 240v tool that wasn’t designed for it probably isn’t a wise idea, although I guess I could wear rubber gloves :sneaky:

Also, I think the tyres are pretty much end of life so will get them replaced. Guess it’s possibly related to that (possibly)

I did think that, but couldn’t see anything obvious. I’ve only had the car a couple of months, and I’m sure it wasn’t doing it when I got it. Might jack it up and have a better look.

Audi a4 with 18k on the clock, 4 years old. When driving off from a standstill, and only when cornering left or right, I get a kind of “whir whir whir” at about 10mph, then no other noise when driving around normally. It’s not overly loud, but started to notice it over the past couple of weeks...
